DIY SUPER EASY | LARGE DRY ERASE BOARD | Calendar Hack ON A Budget! $24 Dollars!
Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm going to show you how to save a ton of money on a large dry erase board for your calendar needs. If you've ever looked online for a reasonably sized dry erase board, you'll know they can be super expensive, ranging anywhere from $66 to $200. Who has time to pay that? Not me, and not you either after watching this video. I'll show you how to get a dry erase board for only $24!
Why I Needed a New Dry Erase Board
I needed a new dry erase board because my old dry erase calendar wasn't cutting it. It didn't have enough space for all my notes, and when I tried to erase it at the end of the month, it left behind residue which was super annoying. I needed something bigger and more customizable. If you're in the same boat, you're going to love this hack.
The Solution: DIY Dry Erase Board
I found a brilliant solution at my local Lowe's Home department store. In the back section, there's a marker board usually used for wall panels, perfect for a child's room. Here’s the deal: you can get a 32x48 inch marker board, which is essentially a dry erase board, for only $14.98. With just a few additional supplies, you can mount this on your wall and have a large, functional dry erase board for your home or office.
What You Need:
32x48 inch Marker Board: $14.98 at Lowe’s
Command Strips: Approximately $10 (Extra Large, capable of holding 20 lbs)
That's a total of less than $25 for a huge dry erase board!
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Purchase Supplies
First, head to Lowe’s and pick up the 32x48 inch marker board. You’ll find it in the wall panel section. Then, buy a pack of Extra Large Command Strips. These are the ones that can handle 20 lbs and come in a pack of 10.
2. Prepare the Board
Clean the Surface: Lay the board on a soft surface like your carpet. Spray a paper towel with some alcohol and wipe down the back of the board to remove any dust or grease.
3. Apply Command Strips
Attach Command Strips: Peel off the backing from one of the Command Strips and apply it to the back of the board. The Command Strips come in pairs, so make sure to attach them evenly to distribute the weight. Don’t just rely on one strip; you want this to stay up securely.
Distribute Evenly: I used about 7 strips out of the 10-pack, placing them evenly across the back of the board.
4. Mount the Board
Clean the Wall: Wipe down the wall where you plan to mount the board with a paper towel and alcohol to ensure it's clean.
Attach to the Wall: Carefully position the board on the wall. Press firmly on the areas where the Command Strips are attached to ensure they adhere well.
5. Set Up Your Calendar
Draw Your Calendar: Now that your board is mounted, you can draw your calendar. Use a ruler and a dry erase marker to create a grid that suits your needs. You don't have to use the entire board, but it's nice to have the extra space for notes and reminders.
Final Thoughts
This DIY dry erase board is a fantastic budget-friendly solution for anyone needing a large calendar or note-taking board. My old dry erase calendar was tiny and cost almost as much as this new, massive board. Plus, this new board is easy to clean and customize.
